This program was designed for academic/industry scientists, physicians, ancillary health care professionals, technicians, graduate students and fellows who desired a concise update of selected current scientific paradigms and challenges that exist in the biological therapy of cancer. Academic and industry leaders in basic, translational and clinical research provided the audience with an introduction to pre-clinical animal model studies, clinical trial development and several key scientific concepts in immunology and tumor biology that have led to new product development. Attendees also came away with an overview of important problems that have slowed the development of more effective biological therapies and with a foundation that facilitated critical assessment of presentations at the iSBTc Annual Meeting that followed this general education session.
