The future of cancer immunotherapy lies in research and education, primarily by early career scientists. The Forward Fund was established to stimulate the future of the science, development and application of cancer immunotherapy through financially supporting its education and research.

The SITC Sparkathon – Emerging Leaders, Igniting Innovation – is an exciting opportunity for early career professionals seeking opportunity to participate in exciting new research that contributes to the cancer immunotherapy field and the society as a whole. Before SITC can open the Sparkathon application process, the society must meet its goal to raise $600,000. An anonymous foundation has pledged to double all donations made to the Forward Fund, meaning the society has been challenged to raise $300,000 over the next two years ($150,000 per year) for this special initiative.

Each year, SITC hosts a fundraiser at the Chicago House of Blues where you can enjoy live entertainment from SITC's own house band, The CheckPoints! The 2016 event was attended by more than 650 people and raised over $68,000 for the Forward Fund! These donations help to support the research of deserving young investigators. The Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer’s fellowship award program was established through the Forward Fund to support the development of young investigators in the field in order to cultivate the next generation of cancer immunotherapy experts. SITC offered several fellowships to Society members in 2016, which were made possible through the generosity and partnership of the organizations listed below.
Contributions in any amount to support the mission and efforts of the Fund are welcome and appreciated. General contributions, tribute and memorial gifts can be made online or by completing and returning the printable pledge/contribution form. Since its inception, SITC has strongly supported the growth and achievement of young investigators in the field of cancer immunotherapy. As the field continues to expand, SITC has realized the even greater importance of fostering the growth and development of the next generation of cancer immunotherapy experts and tumor immunologists by providing them with additional support opportunities.
