DICKERSON PRESENTED PRESIDENTIAL AWARD IN BIOLOGICAL THERAPY OF CANCER
Milwaukee-Erin B. Dickerson, PhD of the University of Wisconsin Madison was presented the Presidential Award in Biological Therapy of Cancer at the 17th Annual Meeting of the Society for Biological Therapy (SBT) for her presentation "Peptide Targeting of Interleukin-12 to Neovasculature Reduces its Toxicity." The SBT 2002 Annual Meeting and adjunct meetings (including a one-day workshop on Angiogenesis Monitoring and a one-day primer on Tumor Immunology) drew over 600 participants to the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines in La Jolla, California November 7-10, 2002.
This important scientific meeting included presentations from researchers at the National Cancer Institute, academic institutions such as City of Hope National Medical Center as well as pharmaceutical researchers from companies such as IDEC and Human Genome Sciences.
"One of the purposes of the Society for Biological Therapy of Cancer is to bring together scientists and clinicians to hear the latest advances in biologic therapy of cancer," Robert O. Dillman, MD Medical Director of Hoag Cancer Center and Immediate Past President of SBT.
Groundbreaking sessions covered topics such as Antibodies/Immunoconjugates, Engineered T Cells and IL-2 in Malignancy, Vaccines & Mechanisms of Escape, Angiogenesis, Cytokines, New Therapies/Novel agents and Immune Monitoring. Abstracts presented at the meeting included:
