The SITC Immune Monitor
December 2013

President's Message

Dear Colleagues,

Can you believe the year is almost over? 2013 has been a great year for SITC, and on behalf of the Society, I would like to thank everyone who has volunteered and dedicated their time to SITC and helped make this year a success! I would especially like to thank everyone who participated in the SITC 28th Annual Meeting & Associated Programs. More than 1,100 people from 32 different countries attended SITC 2013, making it the largest meeting in SITC history! The meeting set a new abstract submission record and a record number of exhibitors as well.

Feedback received from the meeting included:

  • "The SITC 2013 meeting was a big success not only because of the number of registered attendees, but thanks to the quality of the speakers and the relevance of the program put together by the meeting organizers. Each session, including the very last one, was fully packed, which is quite unusual in my experience with large oncology meetings.”
    - Alessandra Cesano, MD, PhD - Nodality, Inc.

  • “The SITC meeting presented an extensive amount of high quality basic and applied research in the tumor immunotherapy field. Because of this, it is becoming the most innovative and important immunotherapy congress world-wide.”
    - Paulo C. Rodriguez, PhD - LSUHSC - Stanley S. Scott Cancer Center

  • "One of the best parts of this job is traveling to conferences such as SITC to get new ideas, meet new people, and get re-energized to make an impact... At SITC 2013 I was able to solidify a new collaboration and the samples arrive to my lab next week!”
    - Charlie Garnett Benson, PhD - Georgia State University

While the year is coming to an end, SITC still has many upcoming, exciting educational opportunities around the world. Please take a moment to review this email to find out more and be on the lookout for more information on additional SITC programs to come soon.

Happy Holidays!

Francesco M. Marincola, MD
SITC President
