November 12, 2013
Thank you for attending SITC 2013! The energy and excitement at this year's meeting was undoubtedly felt throughout the entire program as all four days were filled with outstanding presentations and presenters, as well as great data that sparked spirited discussions and initiated collaborations that will continue to drive the field of cancer immunotherapy forward.
Because of your support, this was a record year for SITC! The Society welcomed more than 1,100 meeting attendees, more than 300 total submitted abstracts and a record number of meeting exhibitors, as well!
Presentation slides from SITC 2013 will be available early next month and as a registered meeting attendee, you will have free access to the programs you registered for. Please be on the look out for an email with more information once slides are available. In the meantime, check out the SITC 2013 photo album and view all abstracts submitted in conjunction with the 28th Annual Meeting in the special supplement of the Journal for ImmunoTherapy of Cancer (JITC).
Awards Presented at SITC 2013
SITC would like to congratulate once again the 2013 award recipients honored at the Awards Presentation held on Saturday, November 9. Supported by the Forward Fund, the awards are an opportunity to recognize the lifetime achievements of a key leader in field, as well as promote young and up-and-coming researchers.
Richard V. Smalley, MD Memorial Award
- Carl H. June, MD - University of Pennsylvania
The Society selected Dr. June to receive the Richard V. Smalley, MD Memorial Award for his tireless efforts in cancer research, including using genetically engineered versions of patients' own T cells to attack tumors in patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia. Established in 2005, this annual lectureship award is given in memory of former Society President, Richard V. Smalley, MD, to honor a luminary in the field that has significantly contributed to the advancement of cancer immunotherapy research.
