Take Action - Join SITC in Opposing
New Coburn Amendment on Federal Travel
SITC would like to make you aware of a last minute amendment introduced to HR 933, Continuing Resolution being debated in the Senate, which could severely impact federal employee participation at SITC and other association meetings. Senate Amendment 67 would limit federal agencies to sending no more than 25 employees to any domestic meeting – government and private meetings.
Along
with other associations impacted by this amendment, SITC has voiced our
opposition in a letter to be delivered to the Senate prior to the
beginning of American Association’s Day on Monday, March 18, when the
Senate has planned to resume consideration of this Continuing
Resolution.
We urge you to personally take action and join SITC in opposing Senate Amendment 67 and do the following:
• Find your State Senator at: http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm and reach out to them and relay the following message:
-
We oppose Coburn Amendment S.Amdt 67 limiting attendance of federal agencies at all meetings and conferences within the United States.
-
The dialogue that occurs at conferences between the federal government and the private sector is invaluable to the scientific exchange. Public-private collaboration works best when there is a face-to-face exchange of knowledge and ideas.
SITC thanks you for your attention and immediate action in continuing to help all our stakeholders from government and the private sector to participate in important scientific exchange and educational opportunities necessary for advancing the field of cancer immunotherapy.
