A Message from the President

Dear Colleagues,

For 30 years, SITC has continually delivered the latest, cutting-edge cancer immunotherapy information to scientists, practitioners, industry, government, patient advocates and patients alike. This year, more than ever before, cancer immunotherapy and the leading investigators in our field are at the forefront of the entire oncology field.

With a number of approaches demonstrating clinical benefit to patients in a variety of cancer types—and immunotherapy fast becoming a pillar of cancer care—it is no surprise that stakeholders across the globe have taken a keen interest in the promise of cancer immunotherapy. In response to this unprecedented growth and interest in the field, SITC has extended our 30th Anniversary Annual Meeting & Associated Programs to provide more opportunities for scientific exchange, networking and education than ever.

If you have not already done so, I encourage you to register for this momentous event, which will be held in National Harbor, Maryland from November 4 – 8, 2015. There, leaders from around the world will discuss and debate significant developments in tumor immunology, cancer immunotherapy, celebrate the history of the field, and articulate contemporary issues during sessions and programs designed with you in mind.

For more information and to register for SITC 2015 programming and special events, visit the SITC 2015 website.

I look forward to seeing you in person and continuing our work in this historic time.

Sincerely,

Howard L. Kaufman, MD, FACS
SITC President

P.S. Early bird registration rates expire tomorrow, October 2 at 5 p.m. ET, so act fast!

Congratulations, James P. Allison, PhD!

We congratulate long-time SITC member, James P. Allison, PhD, on receiving the 2015 Lasker Award, the nation’s highest honor in clinical medical research. Dr. Allison's pioneering research on the regulation of T cells led to a new era in tumor immunotherapy. The development of drugs that block T cell checkpoints has revolutionized our approach to treating cancer and has brought hope to patients with all types of cancer who may now have a real chance at long-term survival.

Hear Dr. Allison discuss his journey in the field during the keynote Milestones in Immunotherapy session at SITC’s 30th Anniversary Annual Meeting on Friday, November 6! Learn more and register here.
