"Cancer Immunotherapy 2013:
Overcoming Barriers to Adaptive Immunity"
May 4, 2013 | 9:45 am - 11:45 am | Hawaii Convention Center | Honolulu, HI
Join leaders in the cancer immunotherapy field at SITC's compelling guest-society symposium featuring updates on cancer immunotherapy in the pre-clinical/clinical setting, and translating cancer immunotherapy to clinical application. The session will focus on current strategies that can modify the adaptive immune systems, and enhance the development of therapeutically effective T cell responses, preventing tumor progression. Preclinical and clinical studies addressing the obstacles to efficacy with the goal of establishing responses that can mediate tumor eradication will also be presented.
Session topics and speakers include:
- Cancer Immunoediting: Antigens, Mechanisms and Therapeutic Implications
Robert D. Schreiber, PhD - Washington University School of Medicine - Creating High Avidity T Cells for Targeting Tumors
Philip D. Greenberg, MD - University of Washington - Innate and Adaptive Immune Regulation within the Tumor Microenvironment
Thomas F. Gajewski, MD, PhD - University of Chicago - Targeting Tumor Tissues for Improving Immune Responses by Next Generation of Antibody Treatment
Yang-Xin Fu, MD, PhD - University of Chicago - PD-1/PD-L1 Axis
Julie R. Brahmer, MD - Johns Hopkins University
Session attendees must register for the AAI Annual Meeting at: http://www.immunology2013.org/

Kick off your weekend at ASCO with SITC’s CME-certified program featuring the latest topics in cancer immunotherapy. “Advances in Cancer Immunotherapy: From Bench to Bedside and Back" is specifically designed to provide the entire unit of care involved in treating cancer patients with a foundation for understanding core immunology principles. The program will create discussion pertaining to the most recent advancements in the field of immunology and the immunotherapy of malignancy, and promote the advancement of immune-based cancer treatments to improve outcomes for patients with cancer.
This can’t miss session will feature a series of lectures by leading cancer immunologists with expertise in the clinical application of recently approved treatment options. They will discuss how to more effectively implement cancer immunotherapy treatments into clinical practice through a sound understanding of how they work, their side effects and their efficacy to improve patient outcomes.
Attendees can also take advantage of the opportunity for professional networking that will promote collaboration and scientific exchange.
Program topics and speakers include:
- Basic Immunology
Justin P. Kline, MD - University of Chicago - Tumor Microenvironment
Thomas F. Gajewski, MD, PhD - University of Chicago - Immune Potentiating Cytokines
Howard L. Kaufman, MD - Rush University Medical Center - Therapeutic Cancer Vaccines
