A Message from the President

Dear Colleagues,

As the world’s leading member-driven organization dedicated to professionals working in cancer immunotherapy, SITC has continually delivered the latest, cutting-edge information to all stakeholders—scientists, clinicians, researchers, industry, government, patients and advocates alike. The dissemination of information is more important than ever given the major advances in the field over the last few years.

In response to the unprecedented needs in the field, and in celebration of our 30th year of advancing cancer immunotherapy worldwide, SITC has extended our Annual Meeting & Associated Programs to provide more opportunities for scientific exchange, education and networking than ever before.

Please plan to join us in National Harbor, Maryland from November 4 – 8, 2015 as leaders from around the world come together to discuss and debate the most important developments in the cancer immunotherapy field. In this momentous year, SITC will celebrate the history of tumor immunology and immunotherapy—with several surprises for meeting attendees—as well as articulate the contemporary issues in tumor immunotherapy as we work together to craft the vision of immunotherapy for the future.

Prof. Tasuku Honjo, 2015 Richard V. Smalley, MD Memorial Award recipient, will be delivering the keynote address, and we will be featuring a special session on Milestones in Immunotherapy with talks from Dr. James P. Allison, Dr. Cornelis J.M. Melief, Dr. Steven A. Rosenberg and Dr. Robert Schreiber. These are among the sessions you don’t want to miss!

I look forward to seeing you in person and continuing our work in this historic time.

Best regards,

Howard L. Kaufman, MD, FACS
SITC President

Available Clinical Trials for Combatting Colorectal Cancer

March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. Among cancers that affect both men and women, colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States. Every year, about 140,000 Americans are diagnosed with colorectal cancer, and more than 50,000 people die from it.

Learn about available immunotherapy-based clinical trials for colorectal cancer in SITC's Understanding Cancer Immunotherapy Patient Resource Guide, and share it with your patients and colleagues.
