"Petition for Briggs for Cancer Immunotherapy for All"
The Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer (SITC) would like to bring your attention to the "Petition for Briggs for Cancer Immunotherapy for All." This petition was started by Paul Sanderson, in memory of his wife Briggs, who sadly lost her battle with colorectal cancer before she was able to gain access to an immunotherapeutic vaccine.
This petition is now a call to the cancer industry, cancer organizations and governments alike, to reorient the primary direction of research, treatment and funding to both immunotherapeutic vaccines and all promising, potentially curative immunotherapies for all cancer types.
The petition also focuses on making safe, proven, cancer immunotherapies accessible and easily available for everyone, and to developed existing cancer immunotherapies that could end the death, harm, and loss from cancer, cancer treatments, and related medical care, within years instead of decades.
Together, SITC and Mr. Sanderson kindly ask you to join in signing the petition at: www.change.org/petitions/petition-for-briggs-for-cancer-immunotherapy-for-all and advocate for the field of cancer immunotherapy today.
Thus far, Mr. Sanderson has collected almost 6,000 signatures. Notable recent signatories in the cancer immunotherapy field include SITC members Drs. James P. Allison, Antoni Ribas, and Cassian Yee. Twenty stars of film, media, and sports have also added their names to the call, including documentarian Ken Burns, who lost his mother to breast cancer at age 11, tennis legend Billie Jean King, and Academy Award nominees Naomi Watts and Bradley Cooper, who lost his father to lung cancer in 2011.
SITC appreciates your attention and action on this item, and thanks you in advance for your continued support of the Society and its mission to advance the science and application of cancer immunotherapy.
After signing, you may see a pop-up from Change.org. It's part of a pilot program by Change.org to give supporters the option to promote a campaign to a wider audience while also funding Change.org. While Mr. Sanderson has verified their claims (it's in fact promoted to several times more Change.org users than stated), please do not feel obligated to donate, as your signature will still be added to the petition if you choose to close the pop-up box without participating.
